Precursor

[edit]

@Peter Ormond: Governor represented the British monarch, whereas GG represents the Belizean monarch in independent Belize. Isn't that the textbook definition of a precursor? Skjoldbro (talk) 14:32, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Governor-General is completely different from colonial governors. First, as I said, the Governor-General represents the monarch in Right of Belize, not the British monarch. The Governor-General is appointed by the monarch on the advice on the Belizean Government, unlike previous governors. The Governor-General has many roles and functions that are completely different from the colonial governors, like appointing the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, delivering the Speech from the Throne, etc etc. These two positions are completely different and are not related to each other. Hence, it cannot be said that the colonial governors precede today's Governors-General of sovereign Belize. Peter Ormond 💬 14:40, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
